Information Notices have been issued by UK MCA and Gibraltar Maritime Administration to announce the information on operating VHF channels at Kieldrecht lock at the port of Antwerp and New lock at the port of Terneuzen alongside the Sheldt river (Nieuwe Sluis Terneuzen) based on the communication by the Governments of Belgium and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Submission of GMDSS inspection results from the radio firms to ClassNK surveyors has been changed from Paper (by MS Word Format) to Data (by website input) since December 2021 (Refer to Fig.1). The Administration may grant partial or conditional exemptions from the requirements of Regulations IV/7 to IV/11 according to Regulation IV/3 of the1988 Amendments of 1974 SOLAS Convention. The Government of the Hellenic Republic has notified the Society of the conditions for exemption from the requirements of GMDSS for Greek flag GMDSS ships engaged on voyages solely in the Mediterranean and Black Sea, which are reproduced as follows. 1. According to IMO Circular "GMDSS Master Plan", sea areas A2 in the Mediterranean and Black Sea are designated around the Hellenic Republic and only in some other parts. Ships engaged on voyages in the Mediterranean and Black Sea beyond these sea areas A2 should be provided with radio equipment for sea areas A1+A2+A3.

Considering the various problems created by unintended activations of DSC distress alerts and DSC distress relay alerts, Hong Kong Marine Department has issued "Hong Kong Merchant Shipping Notice No.1024 (23 March 2000)" concerning the procedure for responding to DSC distress alerts by ships. In the Notice, masters, officers and radio personnel serving on Hong Kong registered ships are urged to comply with the advice given in the COMSAR/Circ.21 (25 January 2000) and to display the flow diagrammes indicating the procedure for responding to DSC distress alerts as par attached to the COMSAR/Circ.21 on the bridge. In determining the application of the SOLAS requirements, Panamanian Maritime Authority has so far accepted the gross tonnage of US tonnage regulations or other national tonnage regulations of the states when ships were flagged in Panama from those states.
