Radio Service Publications, Radio Log-Book and Radio Personnel on board Australian registered GMDSS ships

The Australian Government (AMSA) has notified ClassNK of Radio Service Publications, Radio Log-Book and Radio Personnel on board Australian registered GMDSS ships by their Marine Order Part 27 Issue 4 as follows:

1. Radio Service Publications to be fitted on board the GMDSS ships;
(1) a copy of the current edition of the Handbook for GMDSS Ship Station Operators, published by AMSA;
(2) the current edition of the Marine Radio Operator Handbook, published by the Australian Maritime College in electronic or printed form;
(3) a copy of the current edition of the Marine Orders Part 27 in electronic or printed form;
(4) a copy of the current edition of the Manual for Use by the Maritime Mobile and Maritime Mobile-Satellite Services, published by the International Telecommunication Union in electronic or printed form;
(5) a copy of the current edition of the Admiralty List of Radio Signals, published by the Hydrographer of the Navy (UK) in electronic or printed form;
(6) a copy of the current edition of the List of Ship Stations, published by the International Telecommunications Union in electronic or printed form;
(7) a copy of the current edition of the Alphabetical List of Call Signs and Numerical Table of Identities of Stations used by the Maritime Mobile Service and Maritime Mobile-Satellite Service, published by the International Telecommunication Union in electronic or printed form; and
(8) The ship's Radio Log-Book (The Log-Book is available from AMSA offices).
(Note) Electronic versions of the radio service publications should be officially issued by an administration or other relevant approved organization.

2. The ship's Radio Log-Book is to include the following matters:
(1) a summary of communications relating to distress, urgency and safety traffic;
(2) records of all test calls conducted;
(3) records of specific gravity checks of radio reserve battery; and
(4) references to important service incidents and to failures in radio installations
