According to the requirements of ISM Code, the Company should establish procedures to identify, describe and respond to potential emergency shipboard situation, and the Company should establish programmes for drills and exercises to prepare for emergency actions.
For the purpose of assisting to establish such procedures by the Company, the "Guidelines for a Structure of an Integrated System of Contingency Planning for Shipboard Emergencies" has been prepared and issued by IMO.

Marine Department of Hong Kong has issued the Merchant Shipping Notice which the Owners, ship managements and Masters are invited to take note of these Guidelines.
