Marine Safety Committee (MSC) has amended LSA Code 4.2(an average mass per embarked person for liferaft) by Res.MSC.293(87) at the 87th session and ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0881 dated 8 December 2011 has been issued for the information of the application date.
Due to the instructions from the four Governments (Cyprus, Liberia, Malta, Singapore), the Technical Information has been revised as follows. The said No.TEC-0881 is revoked, accordingly.

At present, with regard to the application date of this amendment, the following flag states treat the same application with ClassNK: this amendment is applied for the liferafts installed for ships the keels of which are laid on or after 1 January 2012.

- Bahamas, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Liberia, Malta, Marshall Islands, Panama

On the other hand, the Singapore Government has notified that the amended LSA Code is to be applied for the liferafts which newly installed or replaced on or after 1 January 2012 for Singapore flag vessels. Therefore, please kindly follow this instruction for the liferafts which will be installed or replaced from now on.
