The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has notified ClassNK of its requirement for equipment installed Singapore registered ships. Accordingly, we will deal with the matter as mentioned below and appreciate your action. (Please refer to attachment 1. Survey Circular No.1/2012)

(1) Requirements for equipment by MPA

The equipment(*) shall be any of the followings:
a) Type-approved equipment by ClassNK(**), or type-approved equipment by the Recognised Organisations (ROs) authorized by MPA if it is not required to be type-approved by ClassNK.
b) Type-approved equipment under the Council Directive 96/98/EC on Marine Equipment (MED) by ClassNK, or type-approved equipment under MED by ROs authorized by MPA if it is not required to be type-approved by ClassNK.
c) Equipment that is accepted by MPA, if it is other than those approved in accordance with a) or b) above.
d) Equipment that ClassNK’s Surveys confirm to be acceptable, if it is already provided on board before 1 September 2012.

Where the equipment of item c) above will be installed on board on and after 1 September 2012, detailed documents (certificates and testing reports, etc.) are to be submitted through ClassNK to MPA for their review and acceptance. However, the documents can be submitted to MPA directly by the manufacturer.
