As already advised in ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0860 dated 8 August 2011 and TEC-0861 dated on 11 August 2011, in relation to each flag states' instruction for Unified Interpretation regarding the suction heads of fixed emergency fire pumps, the Administration of Singapore, Belgium and Red Ensign Group Technical Forum (including the UK, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man) have newly advised the instruction/agreement as follows.

Instruction from the Administration of Singapore:
For Singapore-registered ships, Unified Interpretation is applicable to ships of which keel is laid on or after 1 January 2012, however, excluding ships of which contract to build is signed before 10 December 2010.

Instruction from the Administration of Belgium:
Unified Interpretation is to be applied for ships constructed on or after 1 January 2012, i.e., MSC.1/Circ.1388 is applied as it is.

Agreement of Red Ensign Group Technical Forum (including the UK, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man):
It is acceptable to apply Unified Interpretation IACS UI SC178 (rev.1) regarding the suction heads of fixed emergency fire pumps for the application date of which is for ships contracted for construction on or after 1 January 2012, and construction commenced before 1 January 2013, for a period of one year until 1 January 2013 and, thereafter, the date of application will be for ships constructed on or after 1 January 2013.

Upon receiving the reply/instruction from flag states other than the above, please be advised that ClassNK Technical Information would be issued time to time.
