Marine Safety Committee (MSC) at the 81st session has amended SOLAS Chap.III/Reg.7.2 by Res.MSC.201 (81), and the following lifejackets are required on board. Please refer to the attachment about the confirmatory survey and the number of lifejackets.
As for application of the amendment, the requirement is implemented for ships the keels of which are laid on or after 1 July 1998, due to SOLAS Chap.III/Reg.1.1 as below.
"Unless expressly provided otherwise, this chapter shall apply to ships the keels of which are laid or which are at a similar stage of construction on or after 1 July 1998."

1. Infant lifejackets (Infant: Weight: less than 15kg, Height: less than 100cm)
2. Oversize adult lifejackets (the adult lifejackets provided are designed to fit persons weighing up to 140kg and with a chest girth of up to 1,750mm)

For any questions whether the adult lifejackets which have already been installed / will be installed are designed to fit oversize persons or not, please contact to the manufacturer of the lifejackets.

Furthermore, regarding to the lifejackets which will be installed on or after 1 July 2010, it is necessary to install the lifejackets in accordance with Para 2.2 of LSA Code amended by Res.MSC.207 (81).
