Installation of immersion suits on board Danish flagged vessels

The Denmark Government have notified of carriage of immersion suits for that flagged ships as follows. And, the following supersedes ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0714 "Installation of immersion suits on board Danish flagged vessels" issued on 1 November 2007.

1. (1) Immersion suits on board Danish flagged vessels are to be of a type in accordance with the LSA Code Regulation 2.3.2.2 that ensures a thermal protection for 6 hours.
(2) Immersion suits are to be located as specified in SOLAS, Chapter III, Regulation 32.3.

2. Immersion suits are not to be stowed at the crew's cabins, but close to the muster station and preferably together with the lifejackets.

3. The number of additional immersion suits carried at remotely located watch stations are to be a minimum of 2, on smaller vessels where there is one watch-keeper in the machinery space the number of additional immersion suits may be reduced to one.

4. The number of additional immersion suits carried at remotely located work stations are to be a minimum of 2.

5. For the forward/aft additional life raft(s), the number of additional immersion suits are to be a minimum of 2 (Ref. SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 31.1.4).
