To whom it may concern
As we have informed in ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-0557 dated 12 December 2003, the amendments to the regulation of MARPOL 73/78 Annex I for further acceleration of the phase-out timetable for the single hull oil tankers and consequently the amendments to Condition Assessment Scheme (CAS), will enter into force on 5 April 2005.

CAS implementation date is mentioned below and the owners are requested to notify the Flag Administration the intended CAS survey process at least 8 months prior to commencement of the actual survey. For your convenience, we are pleased to inform of the followings.

In Addition, we are pleased to inform you of the "Guidance for CAS" explaining implementation, technical requirements and procedural requirements. "Guidance for CAS" is available for downloading from the ClassNK Internet web-site (http://www.classnk.or.jp/), accessing from "Top-Menu" to "Information Services", "Download" and to "PDF Publications".

Phase-out for the single hull oil tankers
(Amendments to Reg.13G, adopted as Res.MEPC.111(50))

1. To be complied with the requirements of regulation 13F (double hull tankers) not later than 5 April 2005 or the anniversary of the date of delivery of the ship on the date or in the year specified in the following table (Reg.13G(4)).
A Category 2 or 3 oil tanker of 15 years and over after the date of delivery should comply with the CAS (Reg.13G(6)).
