With accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the EU, the Cyprus Government enacts their national legislation including Council Directive 96/98/EC on marine equipment as amended. Therefore the Cyprus Government has notified of instruction for the Directive as follows.

For the ships keel of which is laid or which is at a similar stage of construction on or after 1 May 2004, the equipment which are listed in annex A of Council Directive 96/98/EC on marine equipment as amended should comply with the requirements of the Directive.
