This MSC/Circular is not, in general, mandatory requirements. Please note, however, that the No. 3 item (STOWAGE ANDSEGREGATION OF CARGO TRANSPORT UNITS CONTAINING DANGEROUS GOODS) in the guidelines may be mandatory in the relevant states or ports on or after 1 January 2004.

Item 1 and 2 has already been applied to the ClassNK's "Guidance for the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships" for new ships.
