It has already been informed by ClassNK Technical Information No. TEC-0522 of 15 May 2003 about periodic servicing of launching appliances regarding Greek flagged vessels. The Greek Government has notified the Society of revised instructions in relation to this matter.

According to the instructions, the static load test of 1.1 times maximum working load (fully loaded and equipped survival craft) for winch breaks to be carried out instead of the dynamic test prescribed in Regulation 20.11.1.3 of Chapter III of 1996 Amendments to 1974 SOLAS, in case of the winch brakes of launching appliance of ships constructed before 1 July 1986 which do not comply with the requirements of Regulation 48 of Chapter III of 1983 Amendments to 1974 SOLAS.

The previous ClassNK Technical Information No. TEC-0522 has been superseded.
