Validity of approval of fire protection materials that had been approved under the fire test procedures other than "IMO Resolution MSC.61(67)- International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures" (hereinafter referred to as "FTP code") will expire on 31 December 2003, which is prescribed in Annex 3 of FTP code.
Reg.5.1.5 of FTP code prescribes "The approval shall be valid when the product is installed on board a ship."

ClassNK will handle this matter as follows;
"Fire protection materials approved under fire test procedures other than FTP code are accepted to use subject to that the materials shall be confirmed to be provided in the place on board a ship by 31 December 2003."

For reference, a list of fire protection materials approved under fire test procedures other than FTP code is attached hereto.
