Maintenance, inspection and tests of fire-fighting systems on board the Panama-registered ships
The Panama Government has notified ClassNK of maintenance, inspection and tests of fire-fighting systems on board the Panama-registered ships, where are produced as follows:
1. Fixed CO2 gas fire-extinguishing systems
(1) CO2 gas cylinders should be pressure tested after 20 years from the date of manufacture and every five (5) years thereafter.
(2) Weight measurement of contents should be carried out every two (2) years.
2. Fixed foam fire-extinguishing systems
Foam of fixed foam fire-extinguishing systems should be analysed as prescribed by the manufacturer or at two (2) years intervals.
3. Portable fire extinguishers and self-contained breathing apparatus
Portable fire extinguishers and self-contained breathing apparatus should be hydraulic pressure tested at intervals not exceeding four (4) years as per manufacturer advise.
