The additional requirements of GMDSS for the Greek flag ships have been notified by the Greek Government. These requirements are re-produced below, and surveyors of the Society will ascertain compliance with these requirements when carrying out a SR survey. 1. GMDSS Radio Equipment
All GMDSS radio equipment to be installed in accordance with the SOLAS requirements shall be of a type approved by the Greek Government.

2. Drawings
Shipowners shall submit the following drawings to the Greek Government for approval befor GMDSS radio equipment are installed on ships:
(1) Arrangement of Antennas
(2) Arrangement of GMDSS radio equipment
(3) Wiring diagram of GMDSS radio equipment

3. Approval for shore-based maintenance
In case where shipowners choose shore-based maintenance as one of the required maintenance methods, they should submit a copy of the maintenance contract concluded with parties concerned to the Greek Government for approval, and then dispose the approved one on board ship.

4. Required qualifications and the number of radio personnel
Qualifications and the number of radio personnel shall be in accordance with the following depending on the sea areas in which the ship is certified to operate and with the methods of maintenance adopted.
(A) Sea areas: A1, A2
"Duplication of equipment" or "shore-based maintenance"
--------Two GOC holders
"At-sea electronic maintenance capability"(Onboard maintenance)

(B) Sea areas: A3, A4
"Duplication of equipment" and "Shore-based maintenance"
