Special requirements for life-saving appliances and equipment installed on board Singapore-flagged vessels
The Marine and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA Singapore) has announced the following special requirement related to life-saving appliances and equipment installed on board Singapore-flagged vessels. This requirement applies to all Singapore-flagged vessels regardless of their date of construction. Compliance with this requirement is to be confirmed at the next survey related to the Cargo Ship Safety Equipment Certificate (i.e. SE survey) on or after the issued date of this ClassNK Technical Information.
[Requirement]
Wire-rope grips for the falls of life-saving appliances, such as bulldog grips, are not acceptable for any primary load-bearing terminations. This includes falls for lifeboats, rescue boats and davit-launched liferafts as well as hanging off pendants and recovery strops.
