Isle of Man - Annual Fee Discounts for Vessels Using Green Technology
This is to provide customers who own or manage Isle of Man-flagged ships with information deemed to be useful.
The Isle of Man Ship Registry recently published its Technical Advisory Notice 003-22 (Issued 31 March 2023): "Annual Fee Discounts for Vessels Using Green Technology".

This programme provides incentives (including a discount on annual registration fees) to ship owners and management companies who take proactive steps to reduce CO2 emission. The latest version of Technical Advisory Notice 003-22 updates requirements related to such incentives as of 1 April 2023. The revised requirements are as follows:
1. Use of biofuel or biofuel blends as the primary source of fuel for power for a period of not less than 120 days during the 12 months preceding the 1 April of the fee year;
2. Adopt engine capable of using alternative fuel (LNG, LPG, methanol, ammonia, hydrogen, hydrogen enriched fuel, fuel cells, or battery systems);
3. Have capability to use wind assisted propulsion or wind energy for power generation;
4. Have capability to use shore-side energy to provide continuous electrical power to the vessel's equipment;
5. Have capability to use an Air Lubrication System; or,
6. Exceed IMO's MARPOL Annex VI Phase 3 EEDI reduction factors specified by Isle of Man Ship Registry or more.
