Amendments to extend the scope of the EU Directive for EU Emissions Trading System to the shipping sector (hereinafter EU-ETS Directive) were adopted, with effect from 1 January 2024. Information on the compliance with the EU Ship Recycling Regulation for non-EU flagged ships has been provided in ClassNK Technical Information No. TEC-1107 and No. TEC-1207. In the aftermath of the sinking of the "ERIKA" in December 1999 off the coast of France, in order to further improve maritime safety and marine environmental protection, Directive 2001/105/EC (hereinafter referred to as this Directive) amending Council Directive 94/57/EC was prepared by EU (European Union) Commission and adopted by the EU Council.
