According to the Amendment to the Rules to the Survey and Construction of Steel Ships (No.3 of Amendment) dated 3 October 2006, the operation test of the relieving gears of the safety valves for boilers will be required at the periodical surveys for which the application is submitted to the Society on and after 1 January 2007.

Please refer to the attached extraction from the amended requirements(underlined parts).

As specified in the attached requirements, prior to the periodical surveys for which the application is submitted to the Society on and after 1 January 2007, please carry out the operation tests of the relief valves provided on the exhaust gas economizers and record it in the logbook for review by the attending surveyor.
