At the 107th session of the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 107), the Amendment to SOLAS II-1 was adopted, and new Regulation 3-13 was established. We informed in No. TEC-1340 issued on 16 December 2024 about the key requirements for lifting appliances.
The amendment of SOLAS will come into force on 1 January 2026, we would like to inform shipowners and management companies of the following items for which they need to prepare in advance.

1. List* of Lifting Appliances and Documentary Evidence of Safe Working Load
All lifting applications installed onboard ships subject to SOLAS II-1/3-13 are to be registered, regardless of the safe working load, by the time of the first periodical survey (annual, intermediate, and renewal survey) of Safety Construction Certificate (hereinafter referred as "SC") on or after 1 January 2026.
In order to ensure smooth registration of the lifting appliances at the time of SC periodical survey, please prepare in advance a list* of all the lifting appliances installed onboard the ships and documentary evidence to prove the safe working load (e.g., certificate issued by ClassNK, load test report or drawings from the manufacturer, etc.).
In addition, lifting appliances are to be permanently marked with items specified in MSC.1/Circ.1663 Para.3.4, such as the safe working load.

* The list of lifting appliances should include the following items. (No specific format is required.)
(1) Name of lifting appliances
(2) Location: frame number (Fr.**, port/starboard/centre), installation area (engine room), etc.
(3) Safe working load (ton)
(4) Safe radius (crane): **m to **m
(5) Safe angle (derrick): **deg.
(6) Maximum cargo fall angle (swinging derrick): **deg.
(7) Height of the delta plate from the reference deck (swinging derrick): **m on **deck
(8) Drawing or photo of the lifting appliances
