As announced in ClassNK Technical Information No.TEC-1309 dated on 12 October 2023, with respect to the restriction of the use of cybutryne as anti-fouling system since January 2023, amendments to the Guidelines for the Development of the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (Res. MEPC.269(68)) have been adopted at MEPC.80 in July 2023, and RESOLUTION MEPC.379(80) "2023 GUIDELINE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE INVENTORY OF HAZARDOUS MATERIALS" has been issued adding cybutryne to hazardous materials to be listed in the Inventory of Hazardous Materials (IHM), the development of which is required in the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships, 2009.

ClassNK "Guidelines for the Inventory of Hazardous Materials" has been updated as Ver.5.00 reflecting RESOLUTION MEPC.379(80), which can be downloaded from ClassNK Website-MyPage. Up-to-date blank forms of Material Declaration (MD) adding cybutryne can be found on our website. The URL shown in the last of this Technical Information.

PrimeShip-GREEN/SRM, assisting development of the inventory (IHM) in the new-ship method, will be modified by 1 December 2023. For development of the inventory (IHM) of a newbuilding ship, ClassNK will require that building shipyards should receive Material Declarations (MD) in the up-to-date form from the suppliers on and after 1 December 2023. In other words, the suppliers should provide building shipyards with Material Declaration (MD) in the up-to-date form adding cybutryne on and after 1 December 2023. Material Declaration (MD) for a ship in operation is required to be made in the up-to-date form adding cybutoryne, immediately.
