Periodical inspection, maintenance and tests of fire extinguishing system etc. on board the Hong Kong flag ships
The Marine Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government issued a Merchant Shipping Information Note (MSIN) No. 14/2016 "Revised Guidelines for the Maintenance and Inspection of Fire Protection Systems and Appliances", which specified periodical inspection, maintenance and testing of fire protection systems and appliances. The relevant systems and appliances on board Hong Kong registered ships are required to apply the above-mentioned MSIN.
This MSIN No. 14/2016 newly refers to IMO Circular MSC.1 / Circ.1516 as well as MSC.1 / Circ.1432. MSC.1/Circ.1516 was adopted at IMO in June of 2015 to partially amend MSC.1/Circ.1432 by strengthening the guidelines concerning maintenance, inspection and testing of automatic sprinkler systems.
