Concerning misconduct of Kawasaki Heavy Industries
On August 21st, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., announced that it has discovered misconduct regarding shop trials conducted for its two-stroke diesel engines for commercial marine vessels.
According to the company, 673 engines were exposed to misconduct and around 50% of these engines had been installed to vessels under ClassNK registry.
This misconduct has also been reported to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) in Japan. ClassNK will investigate the facts in cooperation with MLIT and work together with each flag state serving as the regulatory authority, to ensure the environmental and safety performance of the affected engines.
